There are several ways of doing machine applique. This is your chance to try them out by making a making a wallhanging sampler.
What to expect on the day
Morning Session
- Welcome and Introductions
- Applique techniques explained and demonstrated
- Fabrics and colour scheme chosen by participants and wallhanging started
Afternoon Session
- Continuing work techniques and wallhanging
What you need to bring
• Sewing machine and usual patchwork and quilting equipment – rotary cutter, ruler, board, thread, scissors etc. Your machine needs to be able to zig zag stitch, blanket stitch and blind hem and have an open foot and a blind hemming foot. Alternatively you can hire one of the Patchkits sewing machines on the day.
• Fabric – a range of co-ordinating fabrics. The wallhanging only requires small quantities of individual fabrics for the applique, a background fabric - 1/2m will be fine, and fabric for the borders. You can also purchase your fabric on the day
