Participants can either make samples or create a cushion or bag from the day. It is suitable for those who already have basic proficiency in patchwork and quilting and can be done by hand or by machine. This workshop can easily adapted for a regular class format.

What to expect on the day

• Basic techniques explained and tried out
• Embroidering and embellishing – hand and machine stitches demonstrated and tried out

What you need to bring

• Sewing machine and usual patchwork and quilting equipment – rotary cutter, ruler, board, thread, scissors etc
• Fabric – lots of small pieces of a wide range of similar weight fabrics – cotton, silks, velvet, satin, taffeta, etc – of different textures.  Can be in a colour theme or rich mixture. Also calico or muslin for the foundation.  For the stitch and slash technique you will need 6-8 fat quarters in cotton which go together.
• Lace, braid, ribbons
• Embroidery and other embellishing threads, either machine or hand depending on your preference, beads, buttons, sequins, pearls etc
• Embroidery needles and scissors
