WORKSHOP OUTLINE FOR SATURDAY 4th September

The idea of Drop In Saturdays is that you can come along for all or part of the day to start on a new project, finish an existing project, get some help on a particular aspect of your patchwork etc. You can work at your own pace and hopefully won’t be adding to your UFOs!

What to expect on the day

Start 10.30 Welcome and Introductions with coffee/tea

As participants arrive, it gives an opportunity for a show and tell and discuss what you would like to achieve from the day

Lunch break – we generally break around 1pm for lunch

After Lunch   Continuing work on individual projects with assistance where required

Finish 3.30/4pm

What you need to bring

•   Sewing machine and usual patchwork and quilting equipment – rotary cutter, ruler, board, thread, scissors etc

•   Your latest creations for the show and tell, the project you would like to work on or an idea of what you might like to try out

WORKSHOP OUTLINE FOR SATURDAY 25th September

In this day long workshop participants explore crazy patchwork - a style of patchwork that was hugely popular in the latter part of the 19th cnetruy and has in recent years enjoyed something of a revival. It provides an opportunity to use more exotic fabrics, such as silks, taffetas and satins than is usual in patchwork and appeals particularly to those who like embroidery and embellishment - the only limit is your imagination! Crazy patchwork can be done by hand or machine or a combination of both in the same project.

What to expect on the day

Start 10.30 Welcome and Introductions with coffee/tea

Before Lunch a variety of craszy patchowrk techniques and ideas are demonstrated. Time is spent deciding on a technique, project and design – Claire has a good selection of crazy patchwork books. as reference as well as supplying full details on all the techniques demonstrated on the day

Lunch break

After Lunch Continue work on chosen project or try out another technique

Finish 3.30/4pm

What you need

- Sewing machine and usual patchwork and quilting equipment – rotary cutter, ruler, board, thread, scissors etc

- Small pieces of a wide variety of silks, satins, lace, embroidered fabric, brocades etc - Claire also has stash you can raid! It might be good to have a limited colour palette and rely on the varierty of textures for effect

- machine or hand embroidery thresds, needle, embellishments etc

WORKSHOP OUTLINE FOR SATURDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

In this day long workshop, participants can make one or more of a variety of small and larger items for Christmas - ideal as Chirstmas presents or to decorate your home. All skill levels catererd for. Both hand and machine projects available.

What to expect on the day

Start 10.30 Welcome and Introdcuctions with Tea/Coffee

Before lunch a variety of projects are demonstrated and participants choose which they would like to do. Choose fabrics and start projects

Lunch

After lunch continue on projects, start the next project etc

Finish 3.30/4pm

What you need to bring

- Sewing machine and usual patchwork and quilting equipment - rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, thread, scissors etc

- Christman fabrics - Claire has a good selection of traditional and contemporary Christmas fabrics
